Organize items while keeping named stacks intact
Use Chest Sorting when players want order without changing the identity of their items. Sorting moves complete existing stacks rather than rebuilding or merging them. Shop and Land Claims are included dependencies for transaction coordination and confirmed access checks where container sorting is enabled.
Add Chest Sorting to your world
- Open the plugin page and choose an existing world you own, or create a new world with the plugin selected.
- Check the included requirements. Each world supports up to eight plugins, including dependencies.
- Start a sleeping world, or use the dashboard restart option for a running world. Adding, removing and updating plugins takes effect when the world restarts; coordinate with anyone playing.
JetRift includes Land Claims, Shop and Economy automatically. A required plugin cannot be removed while this plugin needs it.
Start with personal storage
Try your main inventory first. The hotbar is preserved by default, so arrange tools there before sorting the remaining slots. Then test personal ender storage. Compare the quantity and properties of a named or damaged item before and afterward; sorting should change position, not turn it into a generic replacement.
/sort inventory
/sort enderchestChoose whether to include the hotbar
Operators can inspect the configuration and decide whether a full-inventory sort should include the hotbar. Keep it off while players are learning the command if they rely on fixed tool positions. A pending inventory transaction refuses sorting; finish that transaction rather than trying another sorting command to bypass the reservation.
/sort config
/sort set include_hotbar offEnable targeted containers deliberately
Targeted sorting is off by default. If enabled, stand close to a single chest or barrel and look at it while no player is viewing it. The operation requires a confirmed Land Claims access response. Put the test chest inside an actual owned claim, then compare owner and untrusted access before offering it generally.
/sort set allow_target_chests on
/sort chestCheck the result
- Sort a mixed inventory repeatedly and compare quantities, names, enchantments and damage.
- Restart normally and confirm the configuration remains; check that an unauthorized or currently viewed container refuses without moving items.
Limits and compatibility
- Double chests and unsupported inventories are refused; complete stacks are moved, not merged.
- Targeted chest sorting is refused in the dedicated Skyblock world. Personal inventory and ender chest sorting still work there.
These instructions are for JetRift’s own Chest Sorting plugin. JetRift does not install arbitrary Paper, Spigot, Forge or Fabric extensions. Commands use player names from your world; replace example names before running them. Operators can use the dashboard Console without the leading slash.
