How to make a Minecraft Chunklock server
A Minecraft Chunklock server starts you in a single sixteen by sixteen chunk and locks everything else, so the only way to get more world is to buy the next chunk with experience levels. On JetRift you make one by choosing Chunklock, naming it, and sending your friends the address. It takes about ninety seconds, with nothing to install, because the border is enforced by the server. It runs Minecraft 26.2 on Java Edition.
How the border works
You begin with one chunk. Walk to its edge and you stop. Spend levels and the chunk in front of you opens, and then you have two.
A chunk you buy always has to touch a chunk you already have, which keeps the land in one piece. Corners do not count, because two chunks meeting at a corner share no border to walk across and buying one would sell you land you then have to tunnel to.
Growing outwards
- Create a Chunklock world and send your friends the address.
- Play the chunk you have. Mine it, farm it, and gather levels.
- Stand at the edge facing the land you want and run /chunk buy.
- The price rises as your world grows, so the fiftieth chunk is a project and the second is an afternoon.
Why it is a different game
An open world stops asking you anything after the first evening: every direction is the same and none of them costs anything. Putting a price on the next chunk turns going somewhere into a decision, and a village two chunks away into a goal.
It happens to be cheap to run, too. A world sixteen chunks wide generates a fraction of the terrain of one somebody has walked a thousand blocks across.
What it costs
Nothing while JetRift is in early access. No credit card, three worlds per account, and a hundred and fifty hours a month across all of them. The world sleeps when nobody is on it and wakes up when somebody joins.
Make one now. Free, no card, and about ninety seconds from here to an address you can send your friends.
Start a worldCommon questions
Is the Nether locked as well?
No, only the overworld. Gating a dimension that is eight times wider would mean buying the same land twice.
Do we share the unlocked chunks?
Yes. The world belongs to everybody on it, so a chunk one person buys is open to all of you. Working out who is saving for what is part of it.
What happens to a chunk I have already bought?
It stays yours. Unlocked chunks are saved with the world and survive restarts.
What does a chunk cost?
Three experience levels for the second one, rising by one for each chunk you already own, up to a maximum of thirty. An operator can change all three numbers from the panel.
