Preview game chat before enabling a Discord webhook
Decide which game events belong in Discord before connecting a credential. Discord Bridge sends outward from the game; it does not read a Discord channel back into chat. Begin with local preview mode so you can test the wording and moderation path without contacting a webhook.
Add Discord Bridge to your world
- Open the plugin page and choose an existing world you own, or create a new world with the plugin selected.
- Check the included requirements. Each world supports up to eight plugins, including dependencies.
- Start a sleeping world, or use the dashboard restart option for a running world. Adding, removing and updating plugins takes effect when the world restarts; coordinate with anyone playing.
Choose events in preview mode
An operator can turn on preview mode and select event types. Chat, joins and leaves have separate switches; enable only what the channel needs. Preview stores a local outbox rather than making webhook requests and can work without a webhook. Send a harmless game message and inspect status before enabling real delivery.
/discord set preview_mode true
/discord events chat true
/discord events joins false
/discord events leaves false
/discord enable
/discord statusConnect only from the private Console
Create an official Discord webhook for your chosen channel using your Discord permissions. In the world’s private Console, use discord connect followed by that actual URL. Do not paste it into public chat, a sign or a shared screenshot. Connecting always leaves sending disabled, even if sending was previously enabled.
/discord disable
/discord configSwitch to deliberate live sending
After inspecting the preview, clear test messages, turn preview off and explicitly enable sending. Check queue and delivery status with a small harmless message. Cancelled moderated chat should stay out of the relay, while censored messages retain their censored text. Mentions are disabled rather than letting player text ping everyone.
/discord clear
/discord set preview_mode false
/discord enable
/discord statusCheck the result
- Confirm preview does not contact Discord, then verify only the selected event types in a private test channel.
- Disable delivery and restart normally; inspect status before deciding to enable it again.
Limits and compatibility
- There is no Discord-to-game chat or account linking in this release.
- Retries are bounded. A timeout or interrupted acknowledgement can duplicate a delivery, and exhausting retry attempts can lose it.
These instructions are for JetRift’s own Discord Bridge plugin. JetRift does not install arbitrary Paper, Spigot, Forge or Fabric extensions. Commands use player names from your world; replace example names before running them. Operators can use the dashboard Console without the leading slash.
