Build a small boss encounter before inviting players
Begin with one boss in a separate test arena, not several enemies beside your spawn. Custom Bosses adds configurable stats, a nearby pulse attack and bonus loot to a small set of familiar mobs. A restrained encounter is easier to tune and explain to players.
Add Custom Bosses to your world
- Open the plugin page and choose an existing world you own, or create a new world with the plugin selected.
- Check the included requirements. Each world supports up to eight plugins, including dependencies.
- Start a sleeping world, or use the dashboard restart option for a running world. Adding, removing and updating plugins takes effect when the world restarts; coordinate with anyone playing.
Define the enemy without spawning it
An operator creates an identifier and edits the definition. This example uses a husk with eighty health and a pulse every ten seconds. Inspect the definition before spawning: health, damage, speed, leash and pulse settings all affect the fight, and a name alone does not make a balanced encounter.
/boss create arena
/boss set arena kind husk
/boss set arena health 80
/boss set arena pulse_seconds 10
/boss info arenaChoose a modest reward and cap
Set ordinary item loot and the number of bonus items, then keep the active-boss limit small while testing. Tell participants what counts as the reward. Definitions and defeat counters are saved, but bonus loot is not a transaction-backed currency reward and should not be treated as irreversible financial accounting.
/boss set arena loot iron_ingot
/boss set arena loot_count 2
/boss settings max_active 4Spawn, observe and clean up
Stand in the prepared arena and spawn one boss. Test with consenting Survival players, watching its pulse range and behavior when somebody leaves the leash area. List active encounters before spawning more. The clear command removes active bosses, so use it as deliberate cleanup rather than a player reward button.
/boss spawn arena
/boss list
/boss clearCheck the result
- Confirm that the configured type, health and pulse timing match one controlled encounter.
- Restart normally and inspect the saved definition and defeat count before running another event.
Limits and compatibility
- Supported appearances are zombie, husk, skeleton and spider; arbitrary custom models and a general multi-phase encounter editor are not included.
- A crash between recording defeat and dropping bonus loot can lose that bonus; restoring a world can restore a defeated mob.
These instructions are for JetRift’s own Custom Bosses plugin. JetRift does not install arbitrary Paper, Spigot, Forge or Fabric extensions. Commands use player names from your world; replace example names before running them. Operators can use the dashboard Console without the leading slash.
