Recover a death inventory before its grave expires
Graves gives a player a place to return after a Survival death instead of immediately scattering their inventory. Treat it as a timed recovery opportunity, not permanent storage. Read the coordinates on respawn and return with enough space before the grave becomes public or empties.
Add Graves to your world
- Open the plugin page and choose an existing world you own, or create a new world with the plugin selected.
- Check the included requirements. Each world supports up to eight plugins, including dependencies.
- Start a sleeping world, or use the dashboard restart option for a running world. Adding, removing and updating plugins takes effect when the world restarts; coordinate with anyone playing.
Learn the listing before testing a death
Use a controlled Survival test with a few ordinary items and a small amount of experience. On respawn, read the grave notice and list your graves to recover its number, dimension and coordinates. Do not use a valuable first inventory to discover how your world’s timing or keepInventory rule is configured.
/graveReturn and make space for the contents
Right-click or attempt to break the marker to reclaim items. The marker remains while contents are left, and stacks that do not fit stay in the grave. Clear inventory room and open it again instead of assuming the remainder was deleted. Owner-only access lasts for the configured first period; afterward other players may open it.
/graveUse operator help without changing ownership rules
An operator can inspect all graves and teleport to a selected number, replacing 1 with the actual ID. This is useful for verifying a test location or helping a player understand it. Settings are in the private configuration; reload after editing and inspect the intended owner-only and expiry times before announcing a recovery policy.
/grave list all
/grave tp 1
/grave reloadCheck the result
- Recover a small test grave with a nearly full inventory and confirm the remainder stays available until you make space.
- Restart normally and check that the grave listing persists. Time advances while the server runs rather than while it is stopped.
Limits and compatibility
- With keepInventory enabled, the engine keeps the inventory and no grave is made. Expired graves release items into the world rather than becoming permanent storage.
- Exotic components and expiry in unloaded chunks are not fully validated; test special items separately and keep backups.
These instructions are for JetRift’s own Graves plugin. JetRift does not install arbitrary Paper, Spigot, Forge or Fabric extensions. Commands use player names from your world; replace example names before running them. Operators can use the dashboard Console without the leading slash.
