Make a small Creative edit you can inspect and undo
Use Building Tools for a small, deliberate edit before trying a whole structure. It offers familiar selection, fill and clipboard workflows, but the important first step is knowing exactly which two corners you selected and what the edit will touch.
Add Building Tools to your world
- Open the plugin page and choose an existing world you own, or create a new world with the plugin selected.
- Check the included requirements. Each world supports up to eight plugins, including dependencies.
- Start a sleeping world, or use the dashboard restart option for a running world. Adding, removing and updating plugins takes effect when the world restarts; coordinate with anyone playing.
Select a tiny test region in Creative
An operator works in Creative with building-tools:edit permission. Stand at one corner and set the first position, then move to the opposite corner and set the second. Status helps verify the selection before any write. You can also request a selection wand, but commands make the first test easy to reproduce.
/we pos1
/we pos2
/we statusFill or replace ordinary blocks
Start with a small selection away from containers and valuables. Set fills the selected volume; replace changes only the named source block. Protection checks still apply, so refused blocks may be skipped rather than bypassed. Watch status until the bounded queued job finishes before starting another experiment.
/we set stone
/we replace stone oak_planks
/we statusTest undo and clipboard behavior now
Undo is one level and refuses to overwrite blocks that changed since the edit. Try it before other players build in the test area. Copy uses the current selection; walk to a separate empty spot before pasting there. Clipboard and undo are session state, so use a backup rather than expecting them to survive a restart.
/we undo
/we copy
/we paste
/we cancelCheck the result
- Inspect a tiny completed fill and an undo, including a block another player changed after the edit.
- Restart and confirm settings persist, while expecting the clipboard and one-level undo to be gone.
Limits and compatibility
- Creative mode and edit permission are required. This is a bounded editor, not unrestricted WorldEdit command parity or arbitrary Bukkit plugin support.
- Block entities such as chests and signs are never copied or edited; container contents are outside the clipboard.
These instructions are for JetRift’s own Building Tools plugin. JetRift does not install arbitrary Paper, Spigot, Forge or Fabric extensions. Commands use player names from your world; replace example names before running them. Operators can use the dashboard Console without the leading slash.
